Get your body into shape for 2017 with a healthy diet and exercise. Here are some fitness trends for 2017 to help you stay healthy:
- Body weight training is using your own body weight for resistance training rather than lifting with weights and machines. With minimal equipment needed, it’s super easy and convenient to do at home! Some exercises include lunges, squats, push-ups, burpees, and TRX training.
- High-intensity interval training (known as “HIIT” training) alternates short bursts of high intensity exercise with less intense recovery periods. HIIT training has been shown to improve overall fitness, blood pressure, heart health, insulin sensitivity, abdominal fat, and body weight while still promoting/maintaining muscle mass.
- Treadmill training will improve your walking and running by altering intensity level and duration with speed, incline, and interval drills.
- Yoga, in all forms, is beneficial to mind and body. Some popular forms are power, bikram, ashtanga, vinyasa, anuara, and sivananda. Check out a class!
- Group personal training with two or three people at the same time is a fitness trend on the rise in gyms in 2017.
- Core training is essential to improve overall stability. Exercises can be designed using exercise balls, BOSU balls, wobble boards, and foam rollers.
- Boot camp classes are great group workouts that include cardiovascular, strength, and endurance exercise. They typically combine sports drills, HIIT training, and core workouts all in one intense class!
