Port Jefferson is a historical harbor village on the North Shore of Long Island. Originally a whaling port and shipbuilding community, the village is now largely known for its arts and cultural events held year round. Some of the more popular events are the Dickens Festival in December, the Village Cup Regatta in September and the Summer Concert Series. The Village’s harborfront business district boasts a community theatre, many restaurants, hotel accommodations and shopping.

Transportation
The Long Island Railroad is located just a 10 minute walk from Mather Hospital and provides convenient access to New York City and the East End, with many stops in between, including Citifield for the New York Mets and the Barclay Center in Brooklyn.
